The crust question
Bigger pizzas also have a smaller share of crust. If you prefer toppings over crust, the large pizza wins by even more.
Add each pizza or deal on the menu with its size and price. The comparator works out the total area and the price per square inch (or square centimeter), then ranks them from best to worst value.

Pizza area grows with the square of the diameter. An 18-inch pizza has about 254 square inches, more than twice the 113 square inches of a 12-inch pizza, but it rarely costs twice as much. That's why comparing price per square inch is the fairest way to judge value. It also shows that one 18-inch pizza has more food than two 12-inch pizzas (226 square inches), a comparison that surprises many people. For rectangular pizzas, the area is width × length. The calculator counts the whole pizza, including the crust. Thick crust edges and toppings still differ between restaurants.

The best value only counts if you'll eat it. Cold pizza is fine, but wasted pizza isn't a bargain.
Yes. One 18-inch pizza is about 254 in², and two 12-inch pizzas total about 226 in², so the single large pizza has about 12% more.
