Don't forget the small stuff
Salt, oil, spices, packaging and garnishes add up. Include them for an honest cost per serving.
For each ingredient, enter what you paid for the package, the package size and how much the recipe uses. The calculator converts units, adds everything up and shows the cost per serving and a suggested selling price.
Calculated on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
The cost of an ingredient in a recipe is the package price multiplied by the fraction of the package you use. If a 2 kg bag of flour costs 3.00 and the recipe uses 500 g, that line costs 0.75. The calculator converts between units in the same family: weight (g, kg, oz, lb), volume (ml, L, tsp, tbsp, cups, fl oz) and count (each). It can't convert between weight and volume without a density, so enter both amounts in the same kind of unit. Restaurants and bakeries often price items so that ingredients are 25 to 35% of the menu price. The suggested price divides the cost per serving by your target percentage.

If trimming or cooking loses weight, such as bones or peel, cost the amount you buy, not the amount that ends up on the plate.
Many restaurants aim for 28 to 35%. Bakeries and cafés selling low-cost items often aim for 20 to 30%.
Not for one ingredient. Weight and volume need a density to convert. Enter the package size and the amount used in the same kind of unit, or use the baking measurement converter first.
Choose "each" for both the package (for example, 12 each) and the amount used (for example, 2 each).
