Klondike solitaire rules

The game uses one 52-card deck. Twenty-eight cards are dealt into seven columns, with one card in the first column up to seven in the last, and only the top card of each column face up. The remaining 24 cards form the stock. Any face-up card can be moved with the cards on top of it onto a card one rank higher of the opposite color. Only a King, or a run starting with a King, can be placed in an empty column.

When a face-down card is uncovered it turns over automatically. When the stock runs out you can turn the waste pile over and go through it again as many times as you like. Draw 3 is the harder classic version, because you can only play the top of every third card.

Klondike solitaire FAQ

Is every game of Klondike winnable?

No. Roughly 80% of draw 1 deals are theoretically winnable with perfect play, but far fewer are won in practice, and draw 3 is harder.

How do I move several cards at once?

Tap the highest face-up card you want to move. It and every card on top of it are selected together.

Can I take a card back from a foundation?

Yes. Select the foundation's top card and tap a valid column. It costs 15 points.

What does auto finish do?

Once the stock and waste are empty and every card is face up, the game is solved and auto finish moves the rest to the foundations for you.

Does a new game count as a loss?

Every dealt game counts as played. Only finished games count as wins.
