Video Color Grading Preview

Load a clip and try LUT-style looks in real time. Compare before and after with a split slider, then save a still or export the grade as a .cube LUT for your editor.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

Why preview a grade before editing

Find your look fast

Flip through presets and sliders on your real footage instead of generic sample images.

Honest comparison

The split view shows the original and graded image side by side on the same frame.

Take it to your editor

Export the grade as a standard .cube LUT that most editors and many cameras accept.

How to use the color grading preview

  1. Load footageDrop a video file and scrub to a representative frame.
  2. Shape the lookStart from a preset, then fine-tune exposure, contrast, color balance and split toning.
  3. ExportDownload a .cube LUT for your editor or save a graded PNG still.

How the grading pipeline works

Each pixel passes through exposure, white balance (temperature and tint), shadow lift and highlight gain, gamma and contrast. Because those steps act on each color channel independently, they are precomputed into three fast lookup tables. Saturation and split toning, which depend on pixel brightness, are then applied per pixel.

The .cube export samples exactly the same math on a 33 by 33 by 33 color grid, which is a common LUT size supported by DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, OBS and many others. The preview works on an 8-bit, display-sized copy of the frame, so expect small differences compared with a high-bit-depth grade in a professional editor.

Split toning

Push shadows toward one hue and highlights toward another, the core of looks like teal and orange.

Per-channel LUTs

Precomputed tables keep playback smooth even at 960 pixels wide.

Color grading preview FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. Frames are drawn to a canvas and graded locally in your browser.

Can I use the LUT in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere?

Yes. The .cube file is a standard 33-point 3D LUT that most editors can import as a look or creative LUT.

Why is playback slower on large videos?

Grading is done per pixel on the CPU. The preview is capped at 960 pixels wide to keep it smooth; the PNG export uses full resolution.

Does the LUT expect log footage?

No. The grade is designed on the video as displayed (Rec.709-style). Apply it after any log-to-Rec.709 conversion.

Can I export the graded video itself?

This tool focuses on previewing and exporting the LUT and stills. Apply the LUT in your editor to render the final video.
