The overlay you see on the video is a preview positioned to roughly match where the watermark will land. During export, every frame is drawn onto a canvas at your video's native size, the watermark is drawn on top using the exact position, padding and opacity you chose, and the canvas stream is recorded straight to a WebM file in your browser.
Type any text, pick a size and color, and it is drawn with the browser's canvas text renderer, right-aligned automatically near right-side corners so it never runs off the edge.

No. Both the video and any watermark image you choose are processed directly in your browser. The watermarked clip is recorded locally with the MediaRecorder API, and nothing is sent to a server.
Clips are exported as WebM, the same format used by the other video tools on this site. It plays in all modern browsers and can be re-encoded to MP4 with most video editors if you need that format.
In image mode you must choose a watermark image file first. If none is selected, export shows a message asking you to pick one instead of starting.
