The tool reads your video's native width and height and compares that to your chosen target ratio. If the target is narrower than the source, a full-height slice is cropped from the sides and the position slider moves it left or right. If the target is taller, a full-width slice is cropped from the top or bottom instead. During export, each video frame is drawn onto a canvas at the cropped coordinates while the clip plays, and the canvas stream is recorded straight to a WebM file in your browser.
