Why the SMART framework helps

A goal like "get fitter" is hard to act on because it is never clear when you have succeeded. Working through Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound prompts forces you to define exactly what you will do, how you will know you did it, why it is realistic, why it matters, and by when, turning a vague intention into something you can actually plan around and check progress against.

Be specific about the metric

A number or clear yes/no outcome in the Measurable field makes the goal far easier to track.

Revisit the deadline honestly

If you keep missing the target date, it is often more useful to adjust the date than to abandon the goal.

SMART Goal Builder FAQ

What does SMART stand for?

Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. Answering a prompt for each part turns a vague ambition into a concrete, trackable goal.

Do I have to fill in every field?

No, only a title or a Specific answer is required to generate a statement, but filling in more fields produces a more complete and useful goal.

Can I save more than one goal?

Yes, click Save goal after generating a statement, and it will appear in the saved goals list below.

Where are my goals stored?

In your browser's local storage on this device, until you clear your browser data.
