Why create kaleidoscope art

Instant mandalas

Any photo becomes a symmetric, mandala-like design in seconds.

Endless variations

Small changes in rotation, zoom and pan create completely different patterns.

Ready for printing

Export square images up to 2000 pixels for posters, wallpapers and album art.

How to make a kaleidoscope

  1. Upload a photoColorful, detailed photos such as flowers or city lights work beautifully.
  2. Shape the patternChoose segments, then rotate, zoom and pan until the pattern clicks.
  3. Download itPick an output size and shape, then save as PNG or JPG.

How the kaleidoscope is built

The output is divided into equal pie slices around the center. One slice of your photo is drawn into each, and every second slice is mirrored. Because neighbors are mirror images, their shared edges always match, which is the same trick a real kaleidoscope uses with its angled mirrors.

Rotation, zoom and pan change which part of the photo fills the slice. The number of segments is always even so the last slice meets the first seamlessly. Circle mode masks the result to a disc, and the background color fills any area the image does not cover.

More segments

Smaller, more intricate repeats with a lace-like look.

Fewer segments

Bold, large shapes that keep more of the original photo.

Spin

Animate the rotation to explore patterns and stop on your favorite frame.

Kaleidoscope generator FAQ

Why are the segment counts even?

An even number of alternating mirrored slices is needed for every edge, including the last one, to line up seamlessly.

Why do I see the background color?

When zoomed out or panned far, the photo may not cover the whole slice. Zoom in or pan back toward the center.

What output size should I choose?

1200 pixels is great for social media. Choose 2000 pixels for printing or wallpapers.

Can I save the animation?

The spin is a live preview. Stop it on the frame you like and download that image.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything is rendered in your browser.
