Shoe sizing systems grew up separately. US and UK sizes count in barleycorns (1/3 inch) from different starting points. For adults, UK sizes run about 1 size below US men's and 2 below US women's. European (Paris point) sizes count in 2/3 cm steps, so they rise by 1 while US sizes rise by about 0.5. The centimeter column is the approximate foot length each size fits, which is the most reliable way to compare brands. This chart uses common industry conversions. Individual brands and lasts can differ by half a size or more, so always check the brand's own chart when you can.
