Planning a seating layout

A seating chart is easiest to get right when you separate two decisions: the shape of the room, and who sits where. Building the grid and marking unavailable seats for aisles or gaps first gives you an accurate map of the real space, so that assigning names afterward, whether by hand or shuffled automatically, actually reflects the room rather than an idealized rectangle.

Yes, turn on Mark unavailable seats mode and click any seat to grey it out as unavailable, then click again to restore it.

What happens if I have more names than seats?

Extra names are simply left unassigned; only the first available seats get filled.

Can I type a name into a specific seat?

Yes, click any available seat directly to type a name into it, without needing to use the auto-assign list.

Where is the chart saved?

In your browser's local storage on this device, until you clear your browser data or generate a new grid.
