A single-elimination bracket needs a power-of-two number of participants to divide evenly into rounds. When your list does not divide evenly, the bracket pads itself with byes, which are simply empty slots that let the paired participant advance without playing a match. Every result you click flows forward automatically, and if you go back and change an earlier pick, every later round that depended on it is cleared so the bracket never shows an impossible result.
Turning on the shuffle checkbox is an easy way to randomize matchups for a friendly tournament.
Since editing an earlier pick clears later rounds, a quick screenshot after each round preserves a record if you want one.
