The tool looks at every day from your chosen date through December 31 of that same year. It tallies Saturdays and Sundays individually as "weekend days," and separately counts "full weekends," meaning a Saturday paired with the Sunday right after it, both inside that range.
A trailing Saturday with no Sunday left in the year still counts as a weekend day, but not a full weekend.
