Measuring your resting heart rate is a quick, useful health habit.
A ticking heart is a surprisingly good motivator to get through the morning.
The count multiplies the minutes until lunch by your heart rate. Your resting rate is adjusted by the activity you pick, since moving around raises your heart rate: light movement adds about 10%, being busy on your feet about 30%, and a workout about 60%. A typical adult resting heart rate is between 60 and 100 beats per minute, and fit people often sit lower.
The blood figure assumes about 70 milliliters pumped per beat, a common textbook average for an adult at rest. Real values vary with body size, fitness and activity, so treat every number here as a fun estimate rather than a medical measurement.
At 70 bpm, your heart beats about 100,800 times every 24 hours.
A resting adult heart pumps roughly a coffee cup of blood every few beats.
Median tap intervals filter out a stray double tap.
For most adults, 60 to 100 beats per minute. Athletes may be as low as 40 to 60. If yours is often outside the normal range, check with a doctor.
It is reasonably close if you tap steadily on every beat for 15 seconds or more. A pulse oximeter or fitness tracker is more precise.
The countdown automatically switches to the same time tomorrow.
