Break your habits
Random fills push you away from the same few patterns you always fall back on.
Stuck playing the same fill every time? Generate fresh drum fills in the length, feel and style you want, hear them in context after a groove and edit them on the grid.
Purple cells are the groove, orange cells are the fill. Click any cell to toggle a hit. A crash and kick land on beat 1 of every bar.

Random fills push you away from the same few patterns you always fall back on.
Every fill plays after a groove bar and lands on a crash, just like in a song.
Edit any step on the grid and copy the result as drum tab for your notes.
The grid shows one bar. The first part plays a basic groove with hi-hat, kick and snare, and the last one or two beats, or the whole bar, hold the fill. Each style uses different rules: descending fills move from snare to high, mid and floor tom; rolls keep the snare busy; random fills wander around the kit while tending downward; syncopated fills leave gaps and accent off-beats.
Density controls how many of the available steps are played. Hits on the beat are always kept in most styles so the fill stays anchored to the pulse. Playback uses drum sounds synthesized in your browser, so nothing needs to load.
Four steps per beat, counted 1 e & a. The most common fill subdivision.
Three steps per beat for a rolling, shuffled feel.
Two dotted-quarter beats per bar, each split into three eighths.
Each line is a drum. An o is a hit and x marks cymbals. Dashes are rests and bars separate beats.
Fills usually lead into a crash on the next downbeat. When looping, each repeat starts with crash and kick.
Untick Groove bar first. Playback then skips straight from beat one to the fill.
Mobile browsers start audio only after a tap. Press Play once more if the first tap was swallowed.
Copy the drum tab and paste it into your notes. The grid itself is not saved between visits.
