How to use the online video player

Select Choose a video, or drag a video file onto the player. Playback starts from a local browser address, so the file does not need to be uploaded. You can also paste a direct link to a video file and select Load video.

Use the familiar controls on the video to play, pause, seek and adjust volume. The toolbar adds playback speed, WebVTT subtitles, picture-in-picture and fullscreen. Browser support determines which video codecs and advanced controls are available.

No. When you choose a local file, it plays directly in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool.

Which video formats can I play?

Most modern browsers support MP4 with H.264, WebM and Ogg. Exact support depends on the video codec and your browser.

Why will a video URL not load?

The link must point directly to a video file. Some websites prevent other pages from playing their files, and streaming-page links such as YouTube pages are not direct video links.
