How do I control the snake?
Use the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard. On a phone or tablet, swipe on the board in the direction you want to go, or tap the on-screen directional buttons below the board.
Why did my game pause by itself?
Snake automatically pauses whenever you switch tabs or minimize the window, so your score can't keep changing while you're not looking. Press Start to resume when you're back.
Is my high score saved anywhere besides my browser?
No. Your best score is saved only in your browser's local storage on this device, so it survives a reload but is never uploaded anywhere.
