How Morse code timing works

Morse code is more than a sequence of marks: the silent gaps are part of the message. At any playback speed, all timing is based on the length of one dot.

Yes. The audio player turns dots into short beeps and dashes into beeps three times longer. Adjust the WPM speed and tone frequency before playback to make practice comfortable.

What do the spaces and slashes mean?

A regular space separates two Morse letters in the written output. A slash represents the longer pause between words. During audio playback, those gaps last three and seven dot units respectively.

Does this translator support numbers and punctuation?

Yes. It supports A–Z, 0–9 and common punctuation such as periods, commas, question marks, apostrophes, quotation marks, parentheses, hyphens and @ signs. Unsupported symbols are skipped and reported below the translator.
