Why batch rename images

Organized libraries

Consistent names make photos easy to sort, search and share.

Ready for upload

Clean names without spaces or odd characters work everywhere, from websites to print shops.

Original quality

Files are copied byte for byte into the ZIP; nothing is recompressed.

How to rename images in bulk

  1. Add your imagesDrop in as many photos as you like. They stay on your device.
  2. Build a patternCombine text with tokens like {n}, {date} or {name} and preview every new filename.
  3. Download the ZIPDownload all renamed images in one ZIP file.

How the batch renamer works

Each file's new name is built from your pattern. {n} is a counter that starts at your chosen number and is padded with zeros, {name} is the original filename (after any find and replace), {date} and {time} come from the file's last modified time, and {w} and {h} are the image dimensions. The original extension is always kept.

Characters that are not allowed in filenames are removed, and if two images end up with the same name, a number is added to keep every name unique. The ZIP is created in your browser using the store method, so images are packed exactly as they are with no quality loss.

{n}

Sequential number with padding, such as 001, 002, 003.

{date}

Date the file was last modified, as YYYY-MM-DD.

{w}x{h}

Pixel dimensions, handy for asset libraries.

Batch renamer FAQ

Does it change my original files?

No. Your originals stay untouched. The renamed copies are packed into a new ZIP download.

Why is the date not the date the photo was taken?

Browsers only expose the file's last modified date. For many camera and phone photos this matches the capture date, but edited or copied files may show a later date.

Is there a limit on how many images I can rename?

There is no fixed limit. Very large batches need enough device memory to build the ZIP.

Are the images recompressed?

No. They are stored in the ZIP byte for byte, so quality and metadata are unchanged.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Files are read and zipped locally in your browser.
