How image aspect ratio is calculated

Aspect ratio compares width with height. A 1920 × 1080 image has an exact ratio of 1920:1080. Dividing both numbers by their greatest common divisor, 120, gives the familiar 16:9 ratio. The pixel dimensions describe resolution; the simplified ratio describes shape.

Square and social images

Why is my simplified ratio a large number?
