It compresses beautifully, but many websites, older devices and some Windows apps still expect the far more universal JPG format. This tool decodes each HEIC file locally using a WebAssembly build of libheif, then re-encodes it as a standard JPG at the quality level you choose, all without leaving your browser tab.

No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly-based decoder library loaded from a CDN. The images themselves are never uploaded anywhere.
Some HEIC files use features or codecs the in-browser decoder does not support. Try re-exporting the photo as HEIC from its original device, or use a different photo.
0.85 to 0.95 keeps files sharp with a reasonable size. Use 1.0 for maximum quality if file size is not a concern.
Only the still HEIC image is converted; the motion portion of a Live Photo is not included.
