Online BPM calculator FAQ

What does BPM mean?

BPM means beats per minute: the number of steady musical beats that occur in 60 seconds. A higher BPM feels faster, while a lower BPM feels slower.

How do I find a song's BPM by tapping?

Listen for the kick, snare, or another steady pulse and tap once on each beat. Keep tapping for at least four beats. If the music has a half-time feel, use the half-time or double-time buttons to compare interpretations.

How is BPM calculated from beats and seconds?

Divide the number of beats by the elapsed seconds, then multiply by 60. For example, 16 beats in 8 seconds is 16 ÷ 8 × 60 = 120 BPM.

Why does my BPM result change while I tap?

The calculator continually averages recent intervals between your taps. Small timing differences are normal; the result becomes steadier after several consistent taps.

Is this BPM calculator free and private?

Yes. It is free, requires no account, and processes your taps and values inside your browser.
